Bangkok Again ..

Since I have stop my travelling here I am posting some random photos from Bangkok.



I don't really know how many of you out there that like oyster. I personally like it a lot , in Bangkok we can get really big and juicy oyster with scramble egg - "oh jian". Should check this out if you like oyster. I believe its the same everywhere you order.






From food we shift to some alcohol. I start to believe that our price in Malaysia for so call "illegal" products are way too expensive . Before this trip to Bangkok we will be thinking of going to either Pulau Langkawi or Tioman for some Duty "cheap" Free alcohol. But after you really go out of Malaysia and check out the price you will be very very surprise. The beer at Bangkok are much much more cheaper compare to Malaysia, it even can beat the price at those Duty Free heaven. Imagine the cost u travel to Langkawi from KL compare to flying AirAsia to Bangkok, its about the same. Therefore, we finally decide if we want to go for cheap Beer we will not go to those Duty "but not cheap" Free place anymore.... Cheers to those beer lover...

Well I sound like an alcoholic... as I have been blogging about BEER wherever I go. Well, I can't deny it from hating it to trying it and now being my companion.... what can i say....

Jatujak Weekend Market

At my previous post I am talking about this Jatujak Weekend Market. The photos above are only a small part of items that you can buy there, there are a lot more you can explore... imagine there are more than 500 stalls in a open area. One thing that is not nice about the place is it is way too hot and crowded. But you will be compensated for that . You will be very happy to know what you can see and buy there....

Imagine you are not there to buy things only but also entertain by this peoples :---
( I was so amazed by him/her that i have donated RM2 (which consider very generous ))






There are also selling this little cute puppy there too. Imagine I am someone that has dog phobia , but i still dare to touch this puppy... he is just way too cute and his fur are so nice and soft... and it cost RM5000 !!!! Before bargain...






There are so much more for you to explore there . But remember the consequence of you walking there the whole day is like this : ----


So, remember to visit Jatujak Weekend Market if you are planning to go to Bangkok.

The Reclining Buddha of Bangkok

Well, this is a must see when you go to Bangkok although you might not be a Buddhist , its a very big statue of Buddha. But the strange part is only the foreigner will be charge entrance fees but not the local. This reclining Buddha is just situated beside the Grand Palace (another tourist attraction)











For ladies before you go in make sure you does not wear sleeveless shirt and u have to wear long pants. That is a respect to the religion itself.






This is where you can make donation by exchanging 20 Bath of coins and drop one by one into the steel bowl while making your wish.






That is all for this particular place in Bangkok. Seem that I am blogging less and less nowadays. Maybe it is because I am running out of idea what to write lately.

What we eat in Bangkok

First of all I cant remember the name of those food , but I sure we have it at Jatujak Market . Noodle at Bangkok are exceptionally small in serving and so does the price as well. You can easily get a bowl of noodle for bout Rm3, which you hardly get nowadays.

Some sort of hot and sour noddle which taste real good....

Have been back from Bangkok for about a week. Well, there are lots of pros and cons for this trip. Actually I tried very hard to put those thing I see and done in words.
One thing for sure Bangkok is a place where you can really shop till drop, those "pasar malam" stuff are so damn cheap....

Let me start with things that you should NOT do or beware of in Bangkok. (this really pissed me off).

1) Do not follow any taxi/tuk tuk drivers advice to any of the Seafood restaurant.
Story: we follow a taxi driver (he approached us in front of our hotel) to a recommended seafood restaurant and he offer to wait for us outside the restaurant and bring us elsewhere after the dinner with a very reasonable taxi fare. Well, when we reach there we expect the dinner will be costly as the driver might have some commission for that, but we does not expect that dinner cost us RM700++ for 6 person (while those food are rubbish I can tell you). The worst part is the ***##** taxi driver disappear when we finish the dinner. what the ***##........ We are so damn angry that night that we decided to crash the car if we bump into the driver again later. ** Unfortunately no one can recognise the face of the driver.

Lesson: Don't ever follow any recommended place to go by those money ripping drivers...


2) Try to get taxi which willing to use the meter ( you might find it difficult to look for one if they know you are not local) :

Story: Since it is 6 of you we might sometimes need to get 2 taxis if the driver does not want to pack us in. So for this particular trip I manage to get a taxi which willing to use the meter which only cost RM7. On the other taxi, my friend have difficulty getting a taxi which was willing to use the meter for the particular journey. In the end they have no choice but to accept a taxi which charge them RM20. Imagine a trip that cost RM7 those money ripping monster can charge you RM20.

Lesson: Try to get a meter taxi if possible . The lesson I learn is , try speaking in a Thai accent for meter , e.g. it sound like "meeterrr". This is to confuse the driver before we really get into the taxi. (of course we need to look Asian enough to be a Thai).


3) Never go to night market where there are lots of foreigner. You will be charged higher for everything. e,g, taxi fare, food , drink and even the offer price at the stall are extremely high (that is the offer price before you star to bargain).

One of the night market we went to is "SUAN LUM NIGHT MARKET" . Please don't ever go there before you go to the place below:-


RECOMMENDED PLACE TO SHOP :

Jatujak weekend market - its a very big "pasar pagi" which only available every weekend.. Tell you this place are so big and crowded till you night get lost. You can almost get anything u can name in this planet there..... (not joking !) . Highly recommended.


Pratunam Shopping Centre - If you miss the weekend market , try go to this Shopping Center. I find the price of those item here were reasonable (although you might need some skill to have a small discount). Basically you can get lots of thing here ranging from cloths , decorative item to toys etc..

Basically that is the few problems that I face when I went to Bangkok which you all have to becareful. Although some drivers might offer to bring you to some jewellery shop or wholesale outlet , its not as bad as what we had gone through for the seafood dinner.

Have A Break : Loos Around the World

I know that this topic might be a bit uneasy (dirty) to lots of you but I found it really interesting talking about the toilets around the world. First of all most of you would have heard about the Automatic RM400K Toilet . Well instead of me writing about this toilet we can get a better understanding from our own Malaysia famous blogger Kenny Sia , he can give you a more inside detail about the "high-Tech" toilet.

Then next is the Automatic Toilet (AT) at Shanghai that I come across at my recent trip. This "AT" does not look new to me there , and I assume that it had been there for sometime already. The similarity of this "AT" compare to the one we had here is that we need to pay for it. At this point in time most of the people will start saying :- "Which toilet is free since it is so High-Tech " . Well , I can prove you wrong if you are one of them saying this.

Finally, the main issue that I post this blog is that there are really such thing as FREE Automatic Toilet. Furthermore , this toilet is so Hi-Tech .. I was so impress with this toilet and my friend iamwk , decided to recorded it. Sorry buddy I know I have violate your copyright , but it is really impressive and would like to tell the people here about what is free in Melbourne . Too bad that we did not have any photos but just video below. It is really funny. So, Enjoy yourself....

Lesson Of the Day :-

Question :- WHY WE NEED TO PAY FOR THOSE TOILET IN ASIA BUT NOT ELSEWHERE

Answer :- BECAUSE WE NEED TO PAY BACK THE GOVERNMENT INDIRECTLY !!!(OUR GOVERNMENT SERVANTS HAVE A LOWER PAY MA .... )

Shanghai Trip - Part 2 (Food)

It have been sometime since I last posted. Since my writing are not good, hopefully those photos will tell the stories. ( As I have promise to posted it long long time ago)


1) Shanghai Steam Bun , Dumpling - apparently it is very very famous there... people will queue up for an hours for this buns. But i can tell you all this Buns are very very delicious. You might get some Shanghainese Restaurant around your area in Malaysia but I can bet you can't get this delicious.

2) Little Fat Lamb Steamboat (It is the direct translation of the Shop). Ok, this one are a little bit normal to blog about as there are similar thing all over Malaysia. Actually I believe there are one similar restaurant around Jalan Imbi. But,what I actually wanna blog about this Steamboat is it meat... I believe you can't get mutton and beef as fresh as what they have there. (this is because I can't even get any nice beef in Malaysia excluding those imported one la...)










3) Stinking Tofu *smell*. To be frank, before this I don't even want to try the stinking tofu . After recommended by my friend I tried the stinking tofu for the first time. It does not taste as it smell after all. For those people that have not try can go get some at our "pasar malam" (night market). You will be surprise with the taste.

That is about it that I find interesting for my trip to Shanghai. Hopefully those pictures will give you some mouth watering feeling.

Im Back From "the land of transformation"

Ya, I'm travelling again, and I know I have not even finish my blog about the Shanghai Trip. As usual, I have my personal reason for this particular trip. I'm there to attend my friend's wedding... Very Very old friend of mine.

Finally, I went back to Melbourne - the land of where I grow up and learn. Being a naive and "helpful" person I changed to be a understanding and "care-less" person. This is why I will never forget Melbourne - "the land of transformation"

Melbourne is where I learn what is friendship and life as an adult. I can tell you I met some really fantastic friend in that particular year which I still treasure now. I will not exchange anything for the friendship.We have our Joy , Fun and Sadness to share. Yes I'm talking about you there.

I admit that Melbourne have changed tremendously since I graduated. Furthermore, I can feel that I getting older and older when I walk along the street of Melbourne City. I can remember how fast time passed... From a student lingering along Swanston Street to a "apek" which just sit at the cafe drinking & reminiscing. It was a very nice trip where few of us from the same college reminiscing while having our cafe latte. The people , building , food , weather, and etc. reminds us how thing change and time passed. (and of course it indicate that we are getting older lo )

Well, it is nice to talk about the old days but everyone to face the future. So, I'm back home and working hard for my future ..... GANGBATEH !!! (you, you and you too !)

Shanghai Trip - Part 1 (Shopping)

Ok, as I am still arranging my photos for the recent trip , maybe i can write a summary of where I have visited so that my blog will not be in a mess. I am trying hard to categorise those topic I really would like to talk about.


SHOPPING

DESTINATION 1 :- There are this very very nice street (actually I notice there will be one of this similar street in every big city in China) where we can walk and shop with lots of nice and colourful neon lights. But the different between this one in Shanghai (NANJING STREET) is much more beautiful in terms of the lighting and cleanliness. First of all this street give me the first impression of "wah, cantiknya" - I'm showing my "uluness" AGAIN . Although there are lots of ppl walking along this street the cleanliness here are superb compare to other cities in China. For ladies , NANJING STREET is a must to check out if you like shopping. ( HINT ! if you are those looking for place to brush up your bargaining skill there are another one but not here). Anyway, I am sure you will be happy after visiting this street. Oh ya, the only thing that I don't like about this place is there are way to many people asking for money... there are young lad that will come up to you asking for few dollar or for something to eat. Imagine , by walking along the street you will be approached 4-6 times..... Furthermore, they are using the same opening sentences when they approach you.

DESTINATION 2 :- Actually I can't remember what is the name of the street or place. Anyway, this place is a must go for all tourists... It is some where near a temple and where you can eat steam bun ( a very famous Shanghai food). Ok, ok , I will try to compensate by putting up more picture as for this place so that you will know. Talking about this place we spend almost the whole day there bargaining (yes this is where you can now practise your bargaining skill) for tea, bag , souvenir, calligraphy and lots more . Over here you can also try the famous Shanghai steam bun ( pls be warn that you have to be patient for the food ). Over there are always a long queue of ppl waiting to buy the bun. For those that like a Chinese delicacy call "stinking tofu" it is everywhere in at the place too. You can just get it by the smell. Oh ya, for those Starbucks and McD ppl there are few of these outlet at this place, so you can choose either to go for the "stinking tofu" or the western food. * Pause * (I'm still thinking of what i can describe about this place). Maybe that is it for this place for those shopaholics and food admirer.

DESTINATION 3:- "XIN TIAN DI" - 新天地
This place is where you can get all the branded outlet here while at night it will transformed into a lively clubbing area . (It is something like the Bangsar of Shanghai). Very crowded and nice place. I will just leave this place for my next entry about clubbing , cause I does not really shop at those branded shop....

So, I ill try to post all the relevant photos of those food and shopping outlet at my next entry.

Finally I am back from travelling again... this time is to Shanghai for an expo. The first impression on me there is ... WOW !!!! (ulu rite.) ok let me post the icon of shanghai here first before I start to blog about it........

The Anthurium Gallery

On the recent vacation to Cameron Highland we went to one of these Anthurium Plantation at Cameron Highland. Suddenly I have the interest to find out more about this flower...

About Anthurium

Anthuria are grown under shade cloth that blocks 80% of the light and are planted in volcanic cinders. Each shade house was approximately 2.5 acres with a planting density of 25,000 plants per acre. Plants will produce, on average, 6 inflorescences per plant during a year. The average production per shade house would be ca. 375,000 inflorescences per annum.


Here are some of the different Anthuriums that I saw at my friend's plantation at Cameron Highland :-

International Beer Festival - Hangzhou

Oppss, it have been sometime I have drift away from my China trip. Just because one of this place which I have visited that I cannot miss out, it is the INTERNATIONAL BEER FESTIVAL at Hangzhou. At first I cant even believe myself that there are such Festival in China. I know there are a lot of it in the western countries...
And this is what I saw in the entrance ....













Yeap, this only what I had there, one from Newcastle("the magpies") and the other from Brazil. This is what they call International Beer Festival... you have to try beer from different countries. One thing that cut short our excitement is that the Beer Festival are close at 10pm sharp. So, we can't continue to booze there after that.

That is the first experience of me at such a big festival.

Farmer Village ( 农家村 )

Well, the last entry I'm talking about us walking up the Qian Long Rd. And these are what we can get when we reach this Farmer Village ( 农家村 ). Know what , we are so fortunate to met an old Lady (yes, again and a different one this time). She invite us to her house and order some authentic local food for us to try (of course we have to pay ourselves).

She also introduce us some of the Green Tea ( 龙井 ) that she sell there herself. Does those picture look YUMMY !!!! Yes, those are the food that we ordered. It taste so good and special (that is the only word that I can describe the food) , SPECIAL !





Let me try my best to introduce the food for you... 1) It is normal brinjal ok...erm !! 2) It is call vinegar Fish 3) Some vegetable with fried egg...


4) Fat Pork meat w Soya source. Sorry !! That is the best I can describe the food name...hehehe , but one thing for sure it taste real good.


After that we are serve with their local green tea (龙井) which is very nice. Actually the old lady are selling them at a very low price compare to what we get at the shop outside. Furthermore, she show us 2 different type of these green tea.

After the lunch we went to the silk factory and look at Hangzhou specialties. (which is silk) well, of course we bought some souvenir for our friends there. Finally, we went back to our hotel from the silk warehouse.

Nine Stream Waterfall (Direct translation)

OK, we are back to the trip to Hangzhou. After the west Lake we went to this waterfall called Nine Stream (or something like that in Chinese). The best part is how we end up there.

The story start like this.... While we are walking along the west lake there was this old lady (OL) looking at 2 of us and say (OL):- "Why are 2 of you walking here, there are nothing interesting to see here except the Leifeng Pagoda. Both of u should go and have a look at the waterfall and then walk up the Village and try their food...." Then this (OL) teaches us how to take a public bus to this place where we can see the Waterfall. We are so suspicious about the (OL) thinking if there are any trick in behind, but in the end we decided to try our luck.



Luckily , there are nothing hidden trick from the (OL) and we end up at this waterfall. Well, it is not the best of waterfalls which u can see in China but at least we been here rite !!!

Oh ya, we have to walk up the waterfall just only to know that there does not have anything special up there damn !!! But the best part is where we are to go later.....

This where we are going to go... We are walking the road that the QIANLONG Emperor walked before. Can you imagine how great it is... heheh.. BUT !!! We have to walk through this road for about 15-25 minutes.... Tired !!!! What we can get up there ??? That is what I ask myself while walking there... Is it worth walking for so long ??? Ok, let leave the best of what we see and eat at the village in the next entry...
